The architectural designs of Paul Revere Williams, captured by photographer Janna Ireland.

Known as “Hollywood’s Architect”, LA-born and based Williams was the first licensed Black architect west of the Mississippi River. He built his prestigious six-decade career well before the Civil Rights Movement, designing over 3000 buildings of all shapes, sizes, and functions. From banks & hospitals, to private homes & public housing, his top clientele included Frank Sinatra & Lucille Ball. As the first Black member & Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture, he posthumously received the AIA Gold Medal 40 years after his death.⁣
