The surface has been left untreated to preserve the characteristics of the raw brass. This allows the exterior to patina over its lifetime, making it an object that becomes uniquely yours as it matures. 

Gently press the lit wick into the melted wax below using the bent end of the dipper. This method of extinguishing the flame reduces the amount of smoke produced while retaining the candle’s intended fragrance. You can also use it to re-center the wick when the wax is still molten.
