Kamoi MT Kaku Kaku Writable Washi Tape (20mm)

Masking tape is great for a lot of things — but writing on it? That usually means smudging halfway through a word. The mt Kaku Kaku ("Stiff Stiff") Writing Tape from Kamoi Kakoshi is a different kind of tape. The surface is specially coated to take pencil, water-based ballpoint, and gel pen ink cleanly and legibly, making it useful for labelling, tagging, note-leaving, and journalling in a way regular washi tape isn't.

At 20mm wide, there's enough room to actually write something. It tears by hand, repositions without fuss, and leaves no residue — all the things MT tape is known for, with the addition of a surface that's actually meant to be written on. Straightforward idea, executed well.
