TOYO ST-350 Cantilever Steel Toolbox

The ST-350 is TOYO's cantilever toolbox. When the lid is raised, the two inner trays swing outward in a single motion, opening up the full storage area in the base. It's a mechanism worth watching — brief and satisfying every time. The body is pressed from a single sheet of steel, giving the form its seamless, smooth-edged finish that's lighter and sturdier than it looks. Eight removable dividers let you configure the trays to suit whatever you're storing, from small tools to art supplies to hardware.

Designed by Keiyu Hisashi in 1984 and recipient of Japan's Good Design Long Life Design Award in 2009, the ST-350 has been in continuous production for over forty years. It is a long-time staple at SORT — we use one at the studio and several at home.
